It’s official, our pool is closed for the year.
Hi, it’s hard to believe our summer has ended. That saying, time flies when you’re having fun is so true. Seems just yesterday we were opening the cement pond (as Granny and Elly Mae Clampet would say) for 2017.
This is our second season of opening and closing the pool. Both times when the pool was opened, the water had algae and took time to get the water clear. Our goal for next spring is clear, clean water. The pool place recommended that we open our pool early and close the pool late.
I must admit, closing it this time went much smoother than our first time. Next year should be a breeze!
First the water needed to be lowered below the skimmer.
Next Kevin had me take the shop vac and suck out the water from the skimmer. Shown below is before. The square screw was removed and that is where I hooked the vac to remove water from the line as Kevin was blowing air from the pump.
And lastly we rolled the tarp over the top a section at a time, securing the sides to the in ground screws (anchor).
Have you ever closed a pool for the season? Do you have any time saving tricks to share?
Take care and best wishes!
